Be sure to either include the fonts, or convert fonts to outlines. If your document contains fonts needed in the design, be sure they are included. Many versions of fonts exist, sometimes even with identical names. By including your own, or converting text to outlines, you can ensure accuracy on your sign. Please design your artwork to final size when possible. Any images inside designs should be 100-150 dpi at full size, for closely viewed prints and 75 – 100 dpi for prints viewed from a distance. Keep in mind that the print will only be as good as the original. Be aware that if you copy your logo or image from your web site, it probably doesn’t have enough information to reproduce it any larger than the size that it is on your screen, without noticeable image quality loss. If you cannot produce a large sized logo, then that’s when our design services come in handy. We can do this for you.
In many cases, lamination is not required to produce a durable product, but it can enhance the appearance and will extend the life of any sign. If the sign is for outdoor use then we definitely suggest you choose to have it laminated.
Pricing on signs is roughly based on durability, material and size. In a nutshell: more expensive signs will last longer. Outside of that, there are certain materials which are inherently more expensive than others as well as the larger the sign the more expensive.
Where will the sign be viewed? How will the sign be placed or installed? Etc. This series of questions will help us determine the best materials, colors and mounting methods in constructing your sign to achieve your desired outcome.
Because colour is subjective and can be produced by many methods, there may be slight variations in the way colour appears. But by using the latest technology and consistent colour calibration of our printers and monitors, we will, in almost all cases, be able to provide the specified colour.
Different fonts and colour combinations can affect distance readability. What may look like a very sophisticated or stylish font on paper could lead to illegibility on an actual sign especially from a distance. So it is important to use a clearly read font at a legible size. We can help you decide what will have maximum impact at the distance of the sign.
The choice of colour is a very important aspect when considering the effectiveness of a particular message. We recommend a sign be clear, bold and contrasted to be seen at a distance. We have put together a list if colour options and what each colour will reflect in a sign; Black typically communicates authority and power. Black is a good choice for typefaces, because it contrasts nicely against most light backgrounds and therefore, can be read from long distances. Red is a colour of high emotion. Studies show it stimulates shoppers and appetite. That’s why red cars are known for their sex appeal. Red is a “hot” color that signifies low price. Blue is the opposite of red. Blue is a “cool” colour that communicates elegance and quality. Green is a colour that is rarely used in retail settings except lawn and garden or food establishments. Green symbolises health and nature. Green is eternally associated with the environment, nature, and things that are good for you. Yellow is another attention-grabber, but experts say this colour should only be used as a background. Yellow typefaces are difficult to read. Purple signifies royalty, luxury and wealth and therefore isn’t appropriate for uses that promote value and savings. Brown, on the other hand, is a good choice for industrial applications, because it is earthy and signifies reliability and genuineness.
